Finding Your Voice: Light & Surface

Service Description

This class offers students a more advanced study of drawing. This course’s focus is on the development of an advanced understanding of drawing and the depiction of surfaces and texture on form. Students develop an advanced understanding of how contrast, gradation and edge combine to create effects on objects with wide range of surface characteristics. Projects will address the larger themes found in contemporary art, and how composition, tonal structure, and media handling combine to determine meaning. Students have the option to utilize a range of media including charcoal, pencil, ink, and more with a strong focus on skill building and visual communication. Project complexity builds incrementally as students gain and master skills. All materials are provided & included. Prerequisite: By invitation after completing one full year, or by portfolio approval. * May be repeated based on student skill level and interest. Projects do not repeat and become student driven over time.
